Dressed for SummerOn display June 22 - September 28, 2024
In the days before air conditioning, Southerners relied on clever techniques to create cool and airy homes. Carpets were rolled up and replaced with bamboo mats to protect floors from dirt and dust. Fireplaces were sealed to keep out birds and unwanted pests. Dark, upholstered furniture was adorned with crisp white slipcovers. The result was a light and airy space designed for summer comfort. Experience these summer rituals firsthand between June 22nd and September 28th during our annual "Dressed for Summer" display. This display is included with the cost of regular museum admission. |
